We often believe love comes after change. That once we improve, heal, or get ourselves together, we will finally be worthy. But Scripture tells a different story. “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). God’s love did not wait for us to be better. It met us while we were still unfinished.
This love changes everything. It means brokenness is not a barrier to grace but the very place where grace begins. God does not love a future version of you more than the person you are today. He meets you here, not with disappointment, but with mercy.
When love comes first, growth follows naturally. We do not change to earn love. We change because we are already loved.
Prayer
God, help me rest in the truth that Your love meets me where I am. Let that love be the ground from which my healing grows. Amen.
