Addiction often begins as a search for freedom—a longing to soothe, to escape, to feel alive again. But slowly, what once promised relief becomes a chain. The heart that longed to be free finds itself trapped, fractured by cycles of guilt, secrecy, and despair.
Jesus offers a promise that reaches into this very wound: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
In the art of Kintsugi, broken pottery is repaired with gold, making the cracks not a mark of failure but of transformation. So it is with grace. God does not shame us for our bondage—He meets us in it. Every crack, every relapse, every ache for release becomes a place where His mercy flows like gold.
True freedom is not found in escaping pain, but in surrendering it. It begins when we stop hiding the broken pieces and allow God to hold them. He does not discard the vessel that shattered under pressure. Instead, He remakes it—stronger, more luminous, and finally whole.
Prayer:
Lord, You know the chains I carry—the things I turn to when I long to feel free. Help me to bring my broken pieces to You, without hiding or fear. Mend me with Your mercy, and let Your freedom fill every crack with grace. Amen.
